About the Campus

Margaretville Memorial Hospital is a 15-bed critical access hospital located adjacent to Route 28 in the Delaware County town of Margaretville, New York. An active member of the community, Margaretville Memorial Hospital has been providing a wide range of healthcare serves to residents and visitors to the region for more than 75 years.

Margaretville Memorial Hospital serves a diverse, rural population and offers healthcare services uniquely suited to the region including:

A 24-hour Emergency Department staffed by expert medical professionals using the latest technology to monitor vital signs, heart rates and respiration. All ER nurses at Margaretville Memorial Hospital are certified in trauma care, advanced cardiac life support, basic life support or pediatric advanced life support (PALS). The Margaretville Memorial Hospital Emergency Department recorded more than 4200 visits in 2006.

Our surgical services include general surgery, endoscopy, gastroenterology, orthopedics, gynecological, urology, and podiatry.

A trained ambulance squad on call 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Utilizing state-of-the-art equipment, the ambulance service provides basic life support (BSL) and advanced life support (ALS) and patient transportation within a 15-mile radius of the hospital. The ambulance squad works closely with county EMS, and local rescue and fire departments to provide a timely response and professional treatment when accidents and emergencies occur. The ambulance squad also provides EMT training for those interested in becoming squad members or updating their skills.

A newly-renovated, accredited radiology department which is equipped to perform ultrasound, mammography, bone densitometry, CT scans, echocardiograms, and Doppler studies. The department also has an RD Imagechecker, a computerized scanning device, which can accurately identify breast abnormalities sooner in mammogram films. In addition, the department utilizes teleradiology, which provides 24-hour digitized images accessible to radiologists via phone transmission. Our department has available the film-less PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication Systems) which delivers instant access of images to your physician on CT, ultrasound, and general x-ray exams.

Laboratory services, including inpatient and outpatient lab testing for general chemistry, microbiology, and blood bank services.

Physical and Occupational Therapy, utilizing licensed physical and occupational therapists for inpatient and outpatient services.

A Respite Care program which helps provide a break for caregivers while assuring quality healthcare for their patients. The program allows caregivers to take a long vacation, a short break or get a much-needed rest from their duties in providing daily care for individuals, often family members, in order to prevent “burnout.” Patients in the program receive 24-hour nursing care and are placed under the supervision of the attending physician at the hospital. Those admitted may need minimal assistance or total care. Participants in the Respite Care program also have access to all hospital activities. The program is available for periods ranging from three to 30 days.

A Swing Bed program for Mountainside residents and others who might need specialized medical attention for an extended period of time. The Swing Bed program helps patients recovering from an illness who might require rahabilitative services, such as physical therapy.

A weekly Employee Wellness Program conducted by Nutritional Services Supervisor David Losee on such topics as stress, dieting, cancer prevention and osteoporosis.The hospital also has an exercise room for employees which includes weights, stationary bicycles and treadmills, open 24 hours a day.

An award-winning 82-bed skilled nursing facility, Mountainside Residential Care Center, located adjacent to the hospital off Route 28 in Margaretville. The center's 100-member staff provides the residents with an active, comfortable lifestyle while meeting their health care needs. Besides 24-hour skilled nursing services, Mountainside also provides occupational and physical therapy, speech therapy, pharmaceutical services and physician services.
